Arshad Hussain Lauds Fatima Zehra's Commonwealth Games Bronze, Calls for Greater Support of Female Boxers.

Veteran Pakistan boxing coach Arshad Hussain applauded Fatima Zehra for winning the country’s first Commonwealth Games bronze medal in Glasgow. He highlighted that Fatima achieved the medal by winning two fights and said the performance showed the potential of Pakistan’s female boxers. Arshad expressed disappointment that fellow boxer Qudratullah abandoned the country after the Games, adding, "He was a good fighter. I don’t know who convinced or tempted him to do this and go missing." The coach called on the Pakistan Boxing Federation to give more attention to women, naming Fatima Zehra, Malaika and Maria as promising fighters. He said they should receive technical training and short overseas camps to improve. He also noted that Pakistan’s male boxers performed adequately but were weak technically and physically, and that success on the international stage requires sustained government support. He questioned the effectiveness of a 20‑day training camp that the state had provided.
