Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir says Pakistan will deepen defence and security ties with Somalia to support regional stability.

Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Defence Forces, met with Somalia’s Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The meeting was part of a high‑level delegation from Somalia that also visited the Naval and Air Headquarters. Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to help Somalia strengthen its security system and promote peace in the region. Both sides discussed ways to deepen military‑to‑military ties and capacity‑building projects. The Somali minister praised the Pakistani Armed Forces for their support of regional stability. Earlier, Pakistan’s naval and air chiefs also visited the delegation and reiterated their intention to enhance defence collaboration, particularly in maritime security, training, and joint anti‑terrorism strategies. Pakistan and Somalia had earlier agreed to strengthen cooperation in training, border management, disaster response and a joint strategy against terrorism, a move that aims to deepen bilateral security cooperation.
