Govt. U‑turn restores original medical board for Mir Raza Ali’s exhumation, ending legal standoff over re‑postmortem.

A government decision that had postponed the exhumation of Mir Raza Ali was reversed on Friday. The ruling restored the original eight‑member medical board that the family had insisted on. The body will be exhumed at 11 a.m. Saturday. Police and other officers have been instructed to ensure the necessary arrangements are in place. Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed will convene the board. The panel will include Dow University professor Dr. Naseem as pathologist, Dr. Farrukh as forensic expert, and CPLC official Amir as forensic identification expert. Dr. Kamran, Dr. Sri Chand, and Dr. Daniyal will also serve as board members. The family had rejected a newly formed panel and argued that only the original board, created under court orders, could provide a transparent investigation of the 25‑year‑old entrepreneur’s death. Their objection forced the exhumation to be postponed and led to a legal standoff. Mir Hassan, the deceased’s father, stated that he had no confidence in the new board and would not accept any change. He warned that the case was a murder investigation and that a delay would not deter his family.
