Prominent streets across Karachi were blocked on Friday after Jamaat‑i‑Islami staged protest sit‑ins in the city as part of a broader demonstration against the petroleum levy. A day earlier, the party declared it would hold sit‑ins at 510 locations nationwide by blocking major roads. The Karachi traffic police issued a traffic advisory warning that the protests would slow traffic, create temporary diversions, and partially close several arterial roads. Affected corridors included Mazar‑i‑Quaid, Numaish Chowrangi, Saddar, Shahrah‑i‑Faisal, Shahrah‑i‑Pakistan, UP Mor, Power House Chowrangi, Defence Housing Authority, Sea View, Shahrah‑i‑Orangi, Hub River Road, Super Highway and the National Highway. The police urged citizens to avoid the areas unless necessary, to choose alternate routes, and to allow extra travel time. Updates from Jamaat‑i‑Islami’s official X account confirmed that party workers had begun sit‑ins at the listed spots, blocking the road to Natha Khan from Shahrah‑i‑Faisal and also blocking the Super Highway and Hub River Road.
