Jamaat‑e‑Islami (JEI) cancelled sit‑ins that were scheduled for Sunday, August 9, in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta.
The party will now hold the protests across the country simultaneously on August 16.
JEI’s decision was made during a special meeting chaired by Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, who reviewed the protest preparations.
In a video statement, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman explained that the shift was to allow nationwide participation in Independence Day celebrations.
JEI expressed intent to observe the holiday celebrations with full participation across Pakistan.
