The exhumation of 25‑year‑old Mir Raza Ali has been suspended after the family filed a petition to the judicial magistrate on Friday. The petition says the new five‑member medical board was constituted overnight, infringing a court order. Earlier, the magistrate ordered both the exhumation and the creation of a medico‑legal board after the family raised doubts about the first post‑mortem carried out by the police surgeon. The family insists the original eight‑member board that the court approved must be restored. Mir Hussain told reporters, “We do not recognise this five‑member board. We recognise the eight‑member board constituted by the court.” Police reports say Mir Raza was taken from PECHS and found dead in bushes near a wedding hall in Gulistan‑e‑Jauhar last week. They suspect he was tortured before being shot. Lawyer Jibran Nasir, representing the family, warned that the new board is unlawful and that evidence could be lost or tampered with. He added that the municipality had not consented to the new panel and that the family will pursue legal action if the exhumation proceeds.
