Pakistan and New Zealand Sign Education Cooperation Arrangement, Hold Joint Trade Committee Meeting, and Discuss Sustainable Agriculture.

Pakistan and New Zealand met in Wellington for the third Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting and the fifth round of political consultations. The gatherings were described by the Pakistani Foreign Office as a significant step in deepening bilateral engagement. The main aim was to strengthen cooperation across many fields. A key result of the sessions was the signing of an Education Cooperation Arrangement. The document is expected to deepen collaboration between the two countries in education. Pakistan’s Commerce Secretary Jawad Paul Khawaja and New Zealand’s Deputy Secretary Grahame Morton headed the JTC delegation. The political consultative talks were co‑chaired by Pakistan’s Ambassador Dr Syed Ali Asad Gillani and led by Morton. During the JTC meeting the two sides discussed ways to improve market access and collaborate on sustainable agriculture. Topics included technical cooperation in wool production and plant protection. The discussions also covered trade, investment, technology, services, and the creation of new institutional mechanisms to add economic cooperation. In the political talks the parties reviewed bilateral relations, regional developments, and ways to coordinate in multilateral forums.
