Pakistan Hockey Federation launches 10‑day high‑performance camp to revive women’s hockey in Islamabad, October 7.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) announced a national development programme to revive women’s hockey in the country.
The first phase is a 10‑day training camp that will take place in Islamabad from October 7.
Players from the Under‑15, Under‑18, Under‑21 and senior categories will attend along with selected coaches and support staff.
Dutch coach Richard Snaijer will lead the camp and work with Pakistani players and local coaches to create a modern high‑performance framework.
During the camp, players will receive technical and physical assessments, and the programme will introduce standards for skills, tactics and fitness. Separate schedules will be developed for each age group.
Local coaching development is a key component; Pakistani coaches—especially women—will train alongside Snaijer to gain experience in modern methods.
The October camp is part of a year‑long national development programme. Snaijer will visit Pakistan periodically, while locally trained coaches will maintain the programme in his absence.
Multidisciplinary staff, including sports psychologists, fitness and strength‑conditioning trainers, and other performance support personnel, will be present.
The second phase will occur in March, when PHF plans to send senior and junior women’s teams to the Netherlands for a three‑week training and exposure tour with Dutch clubs.
PHF’s long‑term aim is to build a sustainable women’s hockey system from Under‑15 through the senior national team, combining international expertise, local capacity, sports science and exposure.
