The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s benchmark KSE‑100 index rose 5,336 points, a 3.03% weekly gain, ending the week at 181,430. The run was backed by a drop in international oil prices, easing investor sentiment and lowering operating costs. Oil prices fell below $80 a barrel before stabilising near $82.
External financing prospects improved after positive signals from U.S.–Iran–Oman talks, with expectations that a 60‑day shipping agreement through the Strait of Hormuz could be announced.
During the week the index traded between an intraday high of 182,007 and a low of 177,043. Banks led sector gains with a 1,919‑point climb, while Pakistan’s July trade deficit shrank 15 % month‑on‑month to $3.9 billion.
Daily moves were mixed: Monday’s surge, Wednesday’s rally, Thursday’s extension, and a Friday dip caused by fears of a Middle East conflict escalation. Mutual funds bought a net $14 million of equity, while individuals and banks sold $11 million and $9 million respectively.
