Police reconstitute investigation team for Mir Raza Ali’s murder and add murder charge to FIR.

Karachi police have reconstituted the investigation that began after the body of 25‑year‑old businessman Mir Raza Ali was found buried in bushes in Gulistan‑i‑Jauhar. His disappearance on 28 July was followed by the discovery of his body the next day. An order from the Sindh Inspector General’s office, released Sunday, not only changed the composition of the investigative group but also added Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (hiding evidence) to the case, which initially was filed only under Section 365 (kidnapping) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Police say the new five‑member team is directed to conduct a comprehensive probe, identify, collect and preserve evidence, and submit a report to the court within the required timeframe. The team will be led by Deputy IG (Crime and Investigation) Amir Farooqui and include officers from Alfalah, Korangi, Central, and Zaman Town. The decision follows a second post‑mortem that found Ali had been shot in the back, a finding that contradicts the earlier report and rules out suicide. Ali’s family lawyer, Jibran Nasir, has demanded a full replacement of the original investigation team, citing the new evidence and the family's lack of confidence in the current officers. The lawyer also criticized senior police officials for allegedly ignoring the case and instead harassing the family.
