Police recover spent cartridge casing in Mir Raza Ali case, a breakthrough in 25‑year‑old’s murder investigation.

The case involves 25‑year‑old Mir Raza Ali, an IBA graduate who owned the Wafflix eatery in Gulistan‑i‑Jauhar. He went missing on July 28, and his body was discovered the next day in bushes near Shahi Qila Ground, showing a gunshot wound. Special Investigation Unit Senior Superintendent Dr Samiullah Soomro said the police recovered a spent cartridge casing during a carefully organised search operation. A special team of four station house officers and 40 constables used metal detectors and split the area into four sectors to ensure full coverage. Soomro described the find as a “major breakthrough” and noted that the shell’s location matched the projected bullet trajectory relative to the deceased. Investigators anticipate the evidence will be crucial for forensic, ballistic and reconstruction work. Earlier today, a Karachi court ordered the exhumation of Ali’s remains, following a request by his father after questions were raised about the post‑mortem report. The court directed the police surgeon and Sindh health secretary to arrange a medico‑legal board to conduct a fresh examination, including X‑ray, DNA and chemical tests.
