PTI and TTAP pledge support for long march to Islamabad on September 27 by mobilizing members.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi confirmed on Geo News that both PTI’s national leadership and its ally Tehreek Tahaffuz‑i‑Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP) have agreed on a long march to Islamabad on September 27. He said the date had been accepted collectively across the country. Afridi added that Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, who had expressed concerns about the date, was a non‑political individual. He said she would support the march once the PTI members briefed her on the facts. A PTI member living abroad had alleged that Afridi met Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi before finalising the march date. Afridi refuted that claim, stating the meeting took place at KP House in Islamabad, not in Peshawar. Afridi also denied any communication gaps between party leadership and workers. He highlighted that institutions denying the PTI political space must understand the leadership’s efforts to resolve problems through dialogue, and that youth enthusiasm would fuel the march on September 27. In the interview he criticised the federal government for economic inefficiency and bad governance. Afridi said he would defer the march date only if instructed by the PTI founder Imran Khan and reiterated the party’s demand for justice for Khan, who remains imprisoned since August 2023 at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail following a 14‑year sentence. Afridi urged that new provinces and administrative units be created only through an elected government, and expressed support for that vision.
