PTI Plans Long March to Islamabad on Sept. 27 After Consulting Allies, K‑P Information Minister Announces.

Khyber‑Pakhtunkhwa information minister Shafi Jan confirmed that PTI will organize a long march that begins on 27 September and may last several days. He said the decision was made "through mutual consultation between the party and its allies". The march follows PTI’s nationwide protests on the third anniversary of Imran Khan’s imprisonment. The party demands his immediate release, his wife’s release, the restoration of constitutional rule, relief from inflation, the return of the public mandate and democracy. Jan added that PTI is in contact with religious political parties about the plan and that the march will be conducted with "full preparation." He said supporters are being mobilised in Punjab and other provinces, and that seminars at universities will involve the party’s youth. He called for other opposition parties to join the movement, saying the PPP should leave its government post to become part of the opposition. He warned that those "who had allegedly stolen the mandate" would have to answer to the public. Imran Khan was removed from office by a vote of no confidence on 10 April 2022 and was detained on 9 May 2023 on corruption charges, leading to nationwide protests. He remains in Adiala Jail on a 190 million‑rupee corruption case and faces pending trials under the Anti‑Terrorism Act relating to the May 2023 protests.
