Sajid Iqbal wins LA-14 Western Bagh/DhirKot seat, ending Atiq Ahmed Khan family's decades-long dominance.

Sajid Iqbal won the LA‑14 (Western Bagh/DhirKot) seat with 40,702 votes, according to unofficial results from 213 of 214 polling stations. Former AJK prime minister Atiq Ahmed Khan got 19,542 votes, losing by more than 21,160 votes. The PML‑N candidate Faisal Azad received 3,000 votes, and the PPP candidate Mubashar Ejaz got 2,800 votes. The win is seen as a major challenge to the Atiq Ahmed Khan family, which has dominated parts of AJK for more than seven decades. In LA‑17 Haveli, unofficial results from 170 of 190 polling stations show PML‑N candidate Mohsin Aziz with 31,428 votes and PPP candidate Faisal Rathore with 24,218 votes. LA‑15 Central Bagh shows PPP candidate Zia‑ul‑Qamar leading with 18,825 votes, while PML‑N candidate Mushtaq Minhas has more than 15,000 votes. JI candidate Brigadier Retired Muhammad Khan received more than 12,000 votes. In LA‑16 Eastern Bagh, PML‑N candidate Mir Akbar has 14,900 votes and PPP candidate Sardar Qamar‑uz‑Zaman has 10,960 votes. Results from 14 polling stations are still pending. The PPP has lodged several complaints with the AJK Election Commission. The party accuses the government of widespread rigging and says it had been aware of results before official announcement. PPP leaders claim polling delays, removal of PPP polling agents, and blockage of roads to polling stations. The PPP has also alleged that ballot papers were illegally stamped at several stations in LA‑15 and LA‑16. The third phase of the 2026 AJK general elections included Bagh and Haveli divisions. Security arrangements were heightened because of past unrest. The PML‑N emerged as the largest party with 24 seats after the first two phases, while the PPP was second with 10 seats. Further constituencies in Rawalakot, Poonch and Sudhnoti are expected to vote later.
