On Saturday in Islamabad, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani hosted National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah at his residence. The leaders discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two houses. Gilani said close coordination is essential for a stable parliamentary democratic system, urging mutual cooperation and effective liaison. Sadiq echoed the need to enhance institutional collaboration so legislation meets public expectations. The meeting also covered the overall situation in the country. The leaders agreed to promote national interest, uphold the Constitution, and advance democratic stability. They pledged to maintain open communication and mutual respect. Earlier, Gilani inaugurated a newly modernised office complex of the Senate Secretariat at Parliament House. He described the upgrade as part of a broader reform agenda to improve service delivery and support Parliament’s constitutional duties. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to consolidate harmony between the Senate and National Assembly, stressing that stronger institutional ties will help safeguard democratic traditions.
