Sindh High Court seeks anti‑terrorism court report on delay in Mustafa Amir murder trial.

Karachi: On Monday, the Sindh High Court requested a progress report from the anti‑terrorism court about the Mustafa Amir murder trial. The two‑judge bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, asked that the report include details of any development in the case at the trial court. The principal accused, Armaghan, and his accomplice Sheraz, are charged with abducting and killing 23‑year‑old Mustafa Amir in January 2025 at a house in Defence Housing Authority. After the alleged abduction, the victim’s body and car were set on fire in Hub. The victim’s mother, Wajeeha Amir, filed a criminal miscellaneous application with the High Court seeking, in a case that had spanned over a year and a half, an expeditious conclusion of the proceedings. Her counsel argued that the Anti‑Terrorism Act, 1997, mandates a swift trial but notes that the case has made little progress, partly due to tactics employed by the defence to delay. Following the first hearing, the bench scheduled a further date, when the anti‑terrorism court will provide a detailed progress report.
