UN Security Council Condemns Swat Suicide Blast, Urges Action Against Afghan Terrorist Hubs after Pakistan warns of cross-border threat.

The United Nations Security Council strongly condemned a suicide bombing that took place outside the police station in Swat’s Kabal on August 2. The attack killed at least 16 Pakistani nationals, most of them civilians, and wounded dozens more. Tehreek‑i‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) announced that it was responsible for the attack. In a statement issued by the Office of the UN Secretary‑General’s spokesperson, the council said it condemned the attack in the “strongest terms” and called it a “heinous and cowardly” act of terrorism. It offered the deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and wished a quick recovery for those injured. The council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms is a major threat to international peace and security and urged all UN member states to cooperate with Pakistan in holding perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors accountable. The statement called for universal actions to ensure that Afghan territory is not used by terrorist organisations to launch attacks against neighbouring countries.
