The Women Parliamentary Caucus of the Balochistan Assembly strongly condemned the brutal murder of Master Inayatullah Jattak, identified as the father of Asma Jattak, and demanded that those responsible be arrested immediately. The caucus issued a statement on Friday, describing the killing as a tragic loss and expressing deep concern over a deteriorating law‑and‑order situation that leaves citizens vulnerable. WPC members said that Asma Jattak and her family have faced years of harassment, death threats, forced‑marriage pressure, abductions, and repeated violent attacks. They said the latest incident shows an urgent need for stronger protection for victims of intimidation and gender‑based violence. During a session of the Balochistan Assembly, lawmakers voiced serious worry. Following the discussion, the Assembly Speaker issued a ruling directing the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to arrest all suspects, begin strict legal proceedings and submit a comprehensive progress report to the Assembly Secretariat. The caucus reaffirmed that forced marriages, threats, coercion and intimidation have no place in a civilized society and urged government and law‑enforcement agencies to act swiftly and impartially to restore public confidence.
